Die Ausstellung vereinte unterschiedlichste Positionen von KünstlerInnen aus Linz. Weder bearbeiteten diese die städtische Linzer „Landschaft“ noch bezogen sich die Arbeiten explizit auf ihren Entstehungsort. Die gemeinsame Klammer der Ausstellung, welche sich auch im Titel mitteilt, bildete neben dem Wohnort die Auseinandersetzung mit dem Prinzip „Bild“, das heißt in diesem Fall, mit dem Ergebnis einer Bildkomposition im analogen, zum Teil auch digitalen Bereich, wobei hier fotografische und sprachliche Positionen auf malerische oder filmische Ansätze trafen.
Alle fünf beteiligten KünstlerInnen nutzten die Wände von jeweils einem der fünf weißen Quader, die ab Herbst 1999 dem Ausstellungsraum eine neue Struktur verliehen.
Anlässlich der Ausstellung
„linz / bilder“ veranstaltete die Kunst-halle.tmp Steyr in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Kulturhaus Röda am 12. Mai 2000 eine Lesung von Heimrad Bäcker aus seinen Büchern „nachschrift” (Droschl Verlag).

The exhibition brought together the work of widely differing artists from Linz. These urban Linzers neither focused on “landscape” nor re-ferred explicitly to their place of origin in their work. The common features of the exhibition, also reflected in the title, were the artists’ origin in Linz and their exploration of the “picture” principle. In the present case, that means the results of pictorial composition partly in analogue terms, partly in digital terms, with photographic and language-based approaches coinciding with painterly or film-based approaches.
All five participating artists used the walls of one of the five white cubes, which provided a new layout for the exhibition area from autumn 1999.
On 12th May 2000 the Kunsthalle.tmp Steyr and the Kulturhaus Röda staged a joint event in connection with the “linz / pictures” exhibition at which Heimrad Bäcker read from his “nachschrift” books (Droschl Verlag).
