Die Ausstellung „Lösungen“ von Michael Blank, intern unter dem Arbeitstitel „­Gummi I“ geführt, war die erste einer in der zeitlichen Ab-folge­ losen Ausstellungsreihe, die das Material Gummi zum Thema hatte.
Von 1865 bis 1933 wurden in den Reithofferwerken Gummiwaren aller Art hergestellt. Die Familie Reithoffer war auch wesentlich an der Entwick­lung der Kautschukindustrie in Öster­reich beteiligt. Diese historischen Aspekte waren auch die Motivation, in der Kunsthalle.tmp Steyr aktuelle künstlerische Arbeiten mit dem Ma­terial Gummi zu zeigen und da­­mit­ den lokalen geschichtlichen Aspekt in einen zeitgemäßen Kontext zu stellen.
Michael Blank nahm 47 Gummistränge von je 33 Metern Länge als Ausgangsmaterial für seine Installationsanordnung, in der er Arbeiten der vergangenen drei Jahre zeigte. Es entstand dadurch eine Verspannungsstruktur im Raum, in der Skulpturen aus der selbstreflexiven Werkgruppe „Montierte Schatten“ und Objekte aus geflochtenen Gummistreifen in eine neue, auf die luftige Raumsituation der Halle orientierte Lösungskonstellation gebracht wurden.

Michael Blank’s “Solutions” show, which was known internally by the working title “Rubber I”, was the first in a sequence of exhibitions loosely based on the subject of rubber as a material.
From 1865 to 1933, the Reithoffer factory pro­-duced rubber goods of all kinds. The Reithoffer family also played a significant part in the development of the rubber industry in Austria. These historical aspects were also the motivation for showing current artistic works in the Kunst­halle.tmp Steyr with rubber as a subject, thereby placing the local historical aspect in a contemporary context.
Michael Blank took 47 pieces of rubber each 33 m (108’) long as the starting material for his installation arrangement, in which he showed works of the last three years. The result was a bracing structure in the hall in which sculptures from the self-reflecting “Assembled Shadows” group of works and objects from interwoven strips of rubber were brought together in a new constellation of solutions oriented to the airy spatial context of the hall.
