Das Konzept der Ausstellung weist zwei verschiedene programmatische Ebenen auf. Einerseits nimmt die Ausstellung Bezug auf die geographischen Aspekte, alle teilnehmenden KünstlerInnen haben ihren Wohnort in Linz oder haben dort ihre Studien absolviert, andererseits dominiert die thematische Komponente des Begriffs „Objekt“ die Konzeption der Schau. Aus diesem inhaltlichen Wechselspiel entwickelte sich der Titel der Ausstellung „objekt linz“, was sowohl das Objekt „Stadt“ als Gegenstand der Betrachtung und Analyse, als auch die dort produzierten Kunstwerke meint, die sich einem erweiterten Begriff der Objektkunst zuordnen ließen.

The concept of the exhibition manifests two separate programmatic levels. On the one hand, the exhibition relates to geographical aspects, all participating artists living in Linz or being former students there, while on the other hand the thematic component of the concept of “object” dominates the conception of the exhibition. The title of the show, “object linz”, developed from this thematic interaction. It refers both to the city as an object, i. e. as an object of contemplation and analysis, and the artworks produced there, which could be attributed to an extended concept of object art.
