„50 Jahre nach Lucio Fontanas ,spatialem, schwarzem Environment‘ greift Rebhandl wieder zum ursprünglichsten Ausdrucksmittel der bildenden Kunst, dem reinen Pigment, und stellt sich damit in eine Reihe mit Yves Klein, Mark Rothko, Günter Uecker, Heinz Mack. Im Mittelpunkt: die Verwandlung einer riesigen Halle in einen monochromen, architektonischen Bildraum. Der Besucher steht nicht vor oder außerhalb des Bildes, sondern mitten drinnen. Mit jeder Änderung des Tageslichts oder der Sonneneinstrahlung zeigt das deckend aufgetragene dunkelviolette ,Caput mortuum‘ (Eisenoxyd) ein anderes Gesicht. Von lieblich und warm bis erdrückend und bedrohlich. Dazu kommt die gleißend helle bis nächtlich-schwarzblaue Transparenz der symmetrisch angeordneten Hallenfenster. Faszinierende Raumkunst, zur objektüberfluteten Landesausstellung eine erfrischend-reinigende Abwechslung.“

“Fifty years after Lucio Fontana’s ‘black, spatial environment’, Rebhandl has returned to the most basic of expressive materials of art, pure pigment, thus adding his name to a list that includes Yves Klein, Mark Rothko, Günter Uecker and Heinz Mack. The focal point is the transformation of a huge hall into a monochrome architectural pictorial space. The visitor stands not in front of or outside the picture but in the middle of it. Every change in the daylight or sunlight alters the appearance of the overall dark purple ‘caput mortuum’ (iron oxide). It ranges from warm and friendly to oppressive and threatening. The symmetrically spaced windows of the hall — their transparency varying from a bright gleam to a dark nocturnal blue, add an extra dimension. It is fascinating spatial art, a refreshing and purifying change to the object-inundating Upper Austrian Exhibition.”
